The latest collaboration between Black Milk Clothing and Jeffrey Campbell demonstrates the power of “it doesn’t hurt to ask.” High demand for the discontinued Jeffrey Campbell Back Off shoe used in photos on the Black Milk website created an unintentional association between the two brands.
Black Milk Clothing started with a pair of leggings about three years ago and has grown into a full-blown online shopping destination offering swimsuits, bodysuits, dresses, skirts, tops, t-shirts, shoes and of course, an eclectic collection of leggings.
Jeffrey Campbell, the shoe designer that needs no introduction, has been in the shoe game for over a decade. Designs that hold true to the gritty and edgy styles born on the streets combined with a global following, have made the brand a household name among the fashion forward.
Enter Solestruck, one of the largest online Jeffrey Campbell retailers, to complete the triangle. Solestruck’s brand manager, Ty McBride, reached out to Jeffrey Campbell to inquire about the Back Off shoe after customers started asking when it would be back in stock. Unfortunately, the Jeffrey Campbell factory no longer had the mold for the shoe!
The simple courtesy of listening to the customer has brought the shoe back from the depths of discontinued land and placed it on constant reorder.
The association sparked by the Jeffrey Campbell and Black Milk ad led to the creation of a capsule collection of shoes that were available for pre-order on Solestruck as of Monday, April 2. Prices for the patterned collection of platforms ranges from $189.95-$249.95. The Back Off is back in “Bone Machine” along with Lita Fab, Damsel, Night Lita and 99 Tie.
According to the The New York Times-On the Runway blog, Solestruck placed a pretty big order to keep up with the demand.
