Paris Haute Couture: Atelier Versace Fall 2013

Atelier Versace Couture Fall 2013Versace kicked off couture season in Paris with supermodel Naomi Campbell as the bombshell show opener. Donatella Versace’s Atelier Versace autumn/winter 2013 was every bit of skin-tight and provocative as one would expect with inspiration stemming from the black-and-white film and photography era. Inspiration is just that for Donatella as the glamour of the past was extracted then infused into her own aesthetic that makes Versace Versace.

The rich detail and eye-catching opulence was prominent as one future red carpet look after the other strolled down the catwalk. A few looks were slightly off topic, but it wouldn’t be Versace if she didn’t throw in a chain belt or go for wide-legged and low-rise if given the opportunity. One particular look, a glistening blue catsuit, resembled the Vrettos Vrettakos number BeyoncĂ© is currently rocking during ‘The Mrs. Carter Show’ – but with more sheer paneling and less left to the imagination. What’s not to love?

The show closed with curve-hugging gowns in rich blue and deep burgundy tones and shimmer from head-to-toe. Finally, for hair and make-up, Versace may be making a subtle suggestion to keep it simple since this collection speaks for itself. With the exception of Campbell who obviously has the clout to decide how she wants to style her hair, each model rocked a fresh face and a simple, but elegant topknot.
