Opposites Attract This Holiday Season- Target + Neiman Marcus

Opposites Attract This Holiday Season- Target + Neiman Marcus

This holiday season, expect your local Target and Neiman Marcus to be more chaotic than usual as the two fashion destinations (in their own right) have teamed up to form a revolutionary collaboration like no other.  If Missoni for Target brought the site down, imagine what this endeavor is capable of!

Just in time for the holidays, the collection is rumored to include more than 50 limited-edition gifts in men’s, women’s, children’s apparel and accessories. Other categories are as diverse as sporting goods, home decor, pet accessories and accessories for electronics.

The retailers have connected a roster of 24 distinct CFDA designers to come up with items that will be available to the public on the first of December. The line will be available in Target and Neiman Marcus stores, as well as on their respective websites. To celebrate this extraordinary partnership, both stores are contributing to a one million dollar donation to the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

Each designer will create up to three items to contribute to the 50 piece-limited addition collection. Since the potential market for these items ranges from discount shoppers to luxury buyers, the prices will run from around $8-$500, with the average item being around $60.

The daring duo have even come up with a brand new logo combining Target’s familiar red bull’s eye and Neiman’s black tear drop.

Expect to see designs from the following CFDA designers: Carolina Herrera, Derek Lam, Diane von Furstenberg, Jason Wu, Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta, Tory Burch, Alice + Olivia, Joseph Altuzarra, Band of Outsiders, Brian Atwood, Eddie Borgo, Judith Leiber, Lela Rose, Marchesa, Philip Crangi, Prabal Gurung, Proenza Schouler, Rag & Bone, Robert Rodriguez, Rodarte, Skaist-Taylor, Thom Browne and Tracy Reese. What a list!

Although Target and Neiman Marcus may seem like polar opposites, the brands claim they have been working very well together in the collaboration of this project. Sometimes, one common interest is all a pair needs to thrive – in this case that interest is fashion!

If we could guess, we’d say these items are going to sell out very quickly. We fear it might be a once in a lifetime opportunity, being that plans to carry on this unique collection after this year aren’t in the works.

Mark your calenders for December 1st and don’t forget to bring your holiday shopping list!
