NYFW – Marissa Webb Fall 2013

NYFW – Marissa Webb Fall 2013

Marissa Webb’s sophomore collection was another testament to her ability to design womenswear that finds the perfect balance between femininity with a masculine edge.  The tailoring was sharp and each detail was meticulously styled to showcase the finest details such as the lace inserts in a tiered dress or the hand-beaded collar on a blouse.

Leather was used to create a full piece or to accentuate; and whether as a funnel neck vest or as the trimming on a jacket, it paired well with every item from the lightweight blouses to the heavier tweed pieces.  The all-leather funnel neck vest was a stand-out piece that one could easily picture layering over a blouse as shown or under a jacket as an inner layer.

Webb succeeded in showing a collection that could easily complete an entire fall wardrobe.  She demonstrated wearable layering options which served as an important aspect in styling each look while also making it easy to visualize the versatility of each piece separately.  The assortment was smart and executed thoughtfully – we’re looking forward to seeing what’s to come next from this talented designer.
