NYFW – Badgley Mischka Fall 2013

NYFW – Badgley Mischka Fall 2013

We may have a future street style blogger in the making after seeing JBCStyle recruiter Debra Harris’s Instagram shots before attending the Badgley Mischka show.  She spotted Kyle Anderson, accessories director for Marie Claire, rocking the jumbo-sized Chanel hula hoop bag and quickly snapped his picture.  See it here on the @teamjbc instagram feed.

If not for her amazing ability to identify talent for JBCStyle’s fashion industry jobs, we could say she’s found her second calling.  After a few more quick photo opportunities, it was time to head to the show!

For fall 2013, Mark Badgley and James Mischka channeled inspiration from the enigmatic female characters of various Alfred Hitchcock films.  The attempt to portray the characteristics of Hitchcock’s leading ladies was determined, but more apparent in a few key looks rather than the entire collection.

Debra’s top picks from the show consisted mostly of the dresses that rounded out the final looks of the collection and made up for the statement that some of the initial, more subtle looks were lacking.  Regardless of whether or not the designers were able to hit the Hitchcock  nail directly on the head, if one of the film industry’s most prolific directors was the inspiration, the collection could be interpreted in a number of ways depending on the viewer.
