It’s time to wipe the dust off your old Coach bag that lays neglected in the depths of your closet. Coach, known for its signature bags covered in C’s, is returning to its roots with the release of the Coach Legacy Collection. The fall 2012 collection will feature 
styles from some of its most beloved lines and iconic shapes from the past.
In keeping with the words of Yves Saint Laurent, “fashion fades but style is eternal,” Coach aims to prove that while trends may come and go, the fundamentals of fashion are timeless—one of the reasons vintage is always in style.
For those of you who still cherish those old Coach handbags, you’ll find that you’re not alone. With the sales for vintage Coach bags recently rising on eBay and the desire for the traditional styles increasing, online fashion retailer Net-A-Porter petitioned Coach to reissue some of their favorites from the ’70s and ’80s.
The classic leather bags serve as inspiration for the collection that features a full range of accessories including: handbags, eyewear, outerwear, jewelry, shoes, iPad cases and more. The arrival of the “new” Coach is highly anticipated by once loyal customers as well as a new set of young women who are aware of the brands history and craftsmanship. Fresh, bold colors brighten up the new line and iconic pieces promise to be as eternal as any well-made item in your closet.
While the forms of this vintage-inspired collection evoke simplicity through clean lines, the bright oranges, greens, reds, yellows and blues add a touch of contemporary to the classics. Complimented by the essential traditional brown and black leather versions, the line features new updates including larger sizes, updated interior linings and cellphone pockets. The new lighter weight is accomplished by the use of a more costly leather manufacturing process resulting in a thinner and more luxurious feel.
The line will feature new takes on the iconic Bucket Bag, Crescent Bag, Penny Shoulder Purse and 1971 Classic Duffle Bag ( pictured above); all featuring updated embellishments, including the signature Bonnie Cashin brass toggle closure and tassels.
With the release of the new line quickly approaching on August 1, we can’t wait to get our hands on that printed Penny Shoulder Purse and those wedge rain boots. Welcome back Coach!
