If you’re going to have Madonna perform at the Super Bowl halftime show, you have to take it back to the eighties. It just wouldn’t be right if the seemingly ageless Queen of Pop (yea, I said it) didn’t perform her classics. Good thing she did because her newest single, whatever it’s called, with Nicki Minaj and MIA is so-so in comparison to “Vogue” and “Like A Prayer.”
New rule: “If you were a famous artist in the eighties and you perform in later centuries, you are required to perform your hits because your new -ish is usually irrelevant.”
That said, let’s talk wardrobe. The Material Girl had her couture costumes designed by Givenchy designer, Riccardo Tisci. The collaboration is not a first as Tisci and Givenchy also designed costumes for Madonna’s last tour three years ago. The 12-minute performance included three costume changes from a hand-embroidered gold cape to a black minidress with a hand-studded belt and finally into an embellished black coat.
The headpiece was designed by the sought-after milliner, Philip Treacy. Her white gold and diamond earrings are from the Bulgari High Jewelry Collection.
She’s 53 and she’s got moves like a 20-year-old. You go [Material] girl!
