The colors at Burberry Prorsum were so bold and brilliant, each look brought to mind a Jolly Rancher making its way down the catwalk. Just as edible, notes of champagne, rose gold and white helped balance out the collection that Christopher Bailey sent out on Monday. A tasty collection indeed.
For added detail, mini capes served as garnish in clear orange, soft neutrals or shimmering metallic. The Burberry Trench was ever-present in a red and pink combo, soft blue or a grimy green that could only have worked in this particular collection.
The action didn’t stop at the shoulders; sleeves were pumped up for added drama that reached their climax right below the elbow. To compliment the shine and the volume, a form-fitting slew of dresses hugged the models in every color of the rainbow – if it were an iridescent, pearly, shiny, metallic rainbow that is.
Bailey’s intentions were clear in his closing statement after the show, “I wanted it playful, sassy and joyous with colors so intense you wring them out.”
