Alexa Chung is a household name in the homes of style junkies. The Brit fashion maven has been casually leading the pack as a trendsetter for several years now. Starting out modeling, then moving back and forth between that and a career as a TV personality, Alexa has earned her keep on the ‘IT Girl’ scene.
So it comes as less of a surprise, more in anticipation, that this reigning style icon has announced that she will officially be designing a line all her own! In a recent interview with Numero magazine, Alexa divulged that “in this current era of celebrity no one believes you actually design the stuff anyway, even though I sketch everything myself…so if it sucks I can say I had nothing to do with it, and if it’s really good I can say ‘Here are the drawings, it’s all my own work!’” Cheeky little lass…we’ll believe they’re yours (wink, wink).
A Jacqueline of All Trades, a Wearer of Many Hats, a Renaissance Woman…all could pass as appropriate titles for such a multifaceted 28-year old. Alexa Chung’s style has always been the epitome of British simplistic, modern aesthetic. She rocks the bobby socks, the brogues, the oxfords, the Peter-Pan collar, the chic school girl, and a coined coif to boot. She has been named ‘British Style Icon’ at the British Fashion Awards twice and dubbed the British Fashion Council’s ‘Young Style Ambassador’ of 2012. Karl Lagerfeld sees her as one of his muses. Mulberry named their most popular handbag after her. She’s been a high fashion, front row staple, called a ‘phenomenon’ by Anna Wintour, as well as ‘the Kate Moss of the new generation’ by The New York Times. It girl material all the way, we say.
Although we don’t have any sneak peeks, nor information on when any of this business will be going down…we pulled together a few images of Alexa’s classic looks (and what we hope her line might turn out looking like):
