Melissa Shoes is known for their colorful selection of mold-injected plastic footwear and adored for being among the few brands that combines comfort with unique, individual style.
Melissa may also be the queen of collaborations as the brand has teamed up with some of fashion’s hottest designers including Vivienne Westwood, Gareth Pugh and Jason Wu.
Their most recent venture involves enlisting fellow Brazilian Pedro Lourenço to place his personal touch on the trendy footwear.
Two styles were produced: a sandal with an ankle strap ($175) and a ballet flat ($90). The Melissa Nº 1 + Pedro Lourenço is a high-heel sandal with an ankle strap. The Melissa Divine, is an ombré flat that exudes simplicity and elegance. Both styles are offered in a variety of colors to compliment your summer wardrobe.
To get an up-close and personal experience with the fabulous footwear, visit the Galeria Melissa New York where they will be on display in July as part of an installation curated by Maria Montero.
Lourenço is no stranger to fashion, being a sought after designer since his very first ready-to wear collection at the age of 19, this is his first experience with shoe production. Lourenço said the experience thus far has been a positive one, and one he’d love to continue in the future. As for definite future plans, the 21 year-old designer says, “it’s all about couture and polish.”
His latest resort collection is certainly a testament to this, bringing sophistication and softness to the beloved military look by trading out drab tones for hues of pink and harsh fabrics for silk zibeline. Who knows, with shoe production under his belt now, perhaps we’ll see Lourenço debut a footwear collection of his own soon…at least we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed!
