On December 8, 2011 Pantone named Tangerine Tango (Pantone 17-1463) it’s 2012 Color of the Year. “Sophisticated, dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”
Since then, fashion designers all over have been incorporating this saucy hue into their collections one way or another. But now, the beauty industry is cashing in on this big bang color wave. Sephora recently launched their collaboration with Pantone Universe to create a whole collection of Color of the Year makeup selections. You can choose from a quad lineup of tangerine tinted (and almost tasting) lipglosses, creme lipsticks, blushes, eyeliner, and even flame embellished false eyelashes.
This citrine assembly of maquillage is an exciting way to brighten up your palette for spring and summer. For a dramatic effect, try the whole gambit, with a brown mascara. Or, mix it up with some complimentary shades like turquoise or purple. An alluring color like this can speak so many different looks, so make it your own!
