The hottest news from Paris today was WWD’s article entitled “Louboutin Entering Beauty.” Christian Louboutin is expanding his product offering beyond handbags and the beloved, red-soled shoes coveted by women all over the world.
In a joint venture with Batallure Beauty LLC, a company based in New York that specializes in creating beauty brands for companies like Macy’s, Sephora and Marchesa, Mr. Louboutin formed Christian Louboutin Beauté.
The new company plans to debut the luxury product line in late 2013. The designer did not offer any insight as to which specific categories will be available; but his vague replies promise products that will meet his high standards as well as push some cosmetic boundaries.
It’s a no-brainer that he’s been approached numerous times to offer beauty products inspired by the striking red hue that graces the bottoms of his designer footwear. The Louboutin red would easily translate into the make-up category but it was actually the painted limestone bust of Nefertiti displayed at the Neues Museum in Berlin that captivated and inspired the Parisian designer.
Late 2013 is a long time to wait; but, if we can expect the intricate details that Christian Louboutin is known for, it will be worth it. Until then, continue rocking your red bottoms the only way you know how, on your feet, and pass the time Louboutin-style.
